Why you can trust TechRadar
The best task management apps are productivity multipliers. They enable you to sort, organize, and track crucial personal and professional tasks. The demand for effective task management apps has prompted many companies to develop solutions tailored to various use cases.
Any.do is one of the best to-do list app, and I’ve extensively reviewed it to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses. I tested its features and compared them to those of its main competitors. User-friendliness, customer support, and third-party integration were also key factors I considered. Read on to learn what Any.do offers and if it’s your best choice for a task management app.
Any.do: Plans and Pricing
Any.do is a freemium task management app. It offers a free version with limited features and paid plans that unlock access to advanced features.
The free plan lets you create to-do lists, calendars, and get reminders about your tasks. Your to-do lists will be synced across multiple devices on this plan.
The Premium plan, for $8 per month, unlocks WhatsApp reminders, recurring tasks, location-based reminders, and artificial intelligence (AI) features.
The Family plan, priced at $10 per month, includes all the features of the Premium plan for up to four users. As the name suggests, it’s designed for families seeking a shared task management solution.
The Teams plan is designed for businesses. At $8 per month per user, it provides a collaborative task management workspace, project boards, over 100 task workflow templates, and custom admin controls.
You can use the 7-day free trial to test advanced features before making your final payment. If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase, there is a 48-hour refund window for monthly subscriptions and a 14-day refund window for annual subscriptions.
Any.do: Features
Any.do offers one of the broadest feature sets I’ve tested in a task management app. It’s much more than a simple to-do list tool. It also functions as a project management and collaborative communication tool. It’s more of an all-in-one collaborative platform for business use, although it also works well for personal use.
After signing up, you can easily create your first task from the dashboard. On the web interface, a form is prominently displayed at the bottom with the “+ Add Task” symbol. This form is also prominently displayed on the mobile app. Type your task and hit enter, and it’ll immediately be added to your to-do list.
I like that Any.do takes things step by step. First, you’ll add the task to your list. Then, you can add a reminder, tags, and other details to the task in another menu. This approach makes the app smoother to use, unlike most rivals, where you must create the task, add reminders, and other details in the same menu.
You can sort tasks under separate lists to make them easy to follow. For instance, I created two lists: one for personal tasks and another for work. You can create separate lists for family, friends, fitness, events, or any other topic, helping to keep your tasks organized and easy to access.
I liked Any.do’s innovative feature of emailing tasks into your list. With the address attached to your Any.do account, you can send tasks to the “do@any.do” email, and they will be immediately added to your to-do list. This feature lets you quickly add items to your to-do lists without logging into Any.do every time.
You can set reminders for your tasks, either one-time or recurring. Any.do will send a push notification at the due time. I liked the feature of setting location-based reminders, i.e., receiving reminders when you arrive or leave a specific place highlighted on a map. However, this feature is only open to Premium subscribers.
Any.do offers sophisticated collaborative features for businesses. As a business owner or administrator, you can create task management boards and invite your employees. You will assign tasks to employees and specify the deadlines. Employees will get notified about new tasks they’ve been assigned and receive reminders at the set time, e.g., 24 hours before the due date.
Teams can monitor each other’s tasks on a shared board and leave comments for one another. Any.do provides a chat tool, enabling team members to communicate in real-time and achieve goals. I liked the intuitive chat interface; it feels similar to chatting on Slack.
Widespread compatibility is a major benefit of Any.do. You can access it from a web interface or download the mobile app on your iOS or Android device. It’s also compatible with desktops (macOS and Windows) and smartwatches (Apple Watch and Android Wear).
Any.do has helpful third-party integrations, which I appreciate. For example, you can connect to Google Calendar to visualize all your tasks in a calendar format. You can connect to Siri to add tasks via voice commands. These integrations provide extra functionality that makes Any.do a more valuable tool.
Any.do: Interface and use
Any.do has one of the best interfaces I’ve tested. The user flow is more responsive and seamless than those of most other task management apps. Features are arranged aptly, and everything felt easy to navigate. The widespread compatibility is also a major benefit.
Any.do: Customer Support
Any.do offers helpful support resources. If you encounter challenges, refer to the official user guides, manuals, and FAQs for troubleshooting assistance. If the challenges persist, you can contact the support team directly via email or live chat.
In the live chat option, I initially received responses from a bot, which I didn’t find helpful. However, I requested human intervention and quickly got connected to a support agent.
Any.do: The Competition
TickTick is the main Any.do competitor I’d like to highlight. It’s one of the few task management apps with as broad a feature set as Any.do. It allows location-based reminders, calendar views, and team collaboration, among other features. Yet, TickTick lacks some features you’ll find on Any.do, such as live chat and project management workflows.
Any.do: Final Verdict
Any.do is a feature-rich task management app that I enjoyed using. It’s a versatile tool that covers both task management and effective collaboration. It works excellently for both personal and individual use, with different pricing plans tailored for each.
